Will I do it?
I went to the meeting yesterday but was blown away by the projection that it could cost upwards of $1500. Holy Smokes!! Surely it won't cost that much. Heck, my wife ran one in Wynne, Arkansas a couple of years ago. It cost $40ish to sign up for it and one night at a mom and pop motel in rural Arkansas. I realize this is Chicago we're talking about here. But still.
There are a few people that I'm friends with who is planning to run the thing already. I kinda told them ahead of time that I would probably run it with them. I don't want to let them down. So if I can chew on this money issue and come up w/ some cheaper ways of doing this run...then I'm game. Stay in a cheaper hotel. Run in Wal-Mart shoes. Wear (rotten) cotten. Drive there instead of flying with the major group.
I know I can run a marathon. Or I should say, I know I can with proper training. When my wife ran hers I saw all the folks there, and I kept thinking, "I can do this." But it will take an investment of time, no doubt.
So here's to thinking it over for now. We'll see what happens. If not, I'll pick a marathon in Atlanta or Nashville or New Orleans or something like that.
